Pregnant With Purpose

Luke 1: 26-33

God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said,

“Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid,Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

What happens when your favor brings you the gift of purpose?

Growing up I heard the story of Jesus' birth many times. It was always exciting because we talked about the greatest gift, which was usually presented around Christmas time and included us receiving physical gifts as well. But I never quite understood the magnitude of Mary and what she endured until I became an adult.

As I began to study the story of Mary I often felt overwhelmed at what it must've been like for her. Pregnant at a young age, facing ridicule because her husband wasn't the father, being on the run because of threats to her child, delivering in a barn among animals. As a mother, reading these things made me question many of times if I would have been able to endure such a journey. I mean, being pregnant is hard enough itself, let alone the other things that come along with it. I'm sure for Mary there must've been some comfort in being met by an angel, but I'm also sure that her human mind still often caused her to question and be afraid of what was taking place in her life.

You see, we often think that having favor from God means that we will be respected by men, gifted with tangible things, financially stable and set above "common people". How far off our thoughts are when we think this way! Mary, who was favored so much that she was chosen by God to carry the ultimate sacrifice, was placed in a position where her purpose had to be carried, fulfilled and delivered in the midst of hardships. So why is it that we think that favor would be easy for us?!

There are many of you who are favored by God and He has spoken to you about what He has called you to. He has impregnated you with purpose that is meant to deliver a specific group of people from troubles. But you are so focused on what people will say when you walk in your purpose, whether or not your gift will "survive" and the lack withing your current environment that you are afraid to birth the very thing He has planted in you.

My constant prayer for those of you struggling with this, is that you will find the courage and strength to know that if God has called you to it, He will see you through it! He will provide for you the same way He prepared Joseph as Mary's Purpose partner so that she wouldn't be alone, the same way He allowed the spirit to fall upon her cousin Elizabeth so that she had a sister girl to journey with, the same way he opened up the stable for her birthing place and the same way he sent three wise men to confirm the prophecy that she had been given at the time she conceived. God is not a man that He shall lie, and I know that if He has spoken to you about your purpose it will come to pass and every resource needed will be provided. All you have to do is TRUST Him!

It is time for you to accept the purpose you are pregnant with and get ready to birth whatever it is the Lord is growing inside of you. You are favored, and it won't be easy, but it will definitely be worth it.

It's time to Pursue Your PURPOSE!

Purposefully Yours,

Lady V
